Family Trip to San Diego 2015
This was our first trip by airplane toghether as a family. We saw the beaches, the amusement park at Mission Beach, a day at SeaWorld, and taught Lorenzo how to swim in the pool at the hotel.
On the way to the airport, I remember Liberty feeling very nervous about the flight. We sat across the aisle from each other so that the kids could each have a window seat. I could feel her anxiety as we taxied out to the runway. I gently reached out and held her hand to try and give her some comfort. The flight attendant, sitting directly behind us in the jump seat, thought that it was so sweet that we held hands for take off.
The first day was spent exploring Pacific Beach. A funky little community with lots of cool shops, record stores, and eateries to see. We had waffle ice cream sandwiches as a snack, and Hodad’s burgers for dinner.
A big weekend was had by all. It started out with a quick trip to my Mom’s house to see the new ducklings that hatched a few days before, then off to the Gorge Amphitheater so that Liberty and Ari could see Sam Smith. Lorenzo and I took a good walk and watched a movie in the car while we waited for them. Then we drove home to catch a couple of hours of sleep before we headed off to San Diego. Best Birthday weekend ever!
Tail Section Farewell
We sat in the tail of the airplane, the very last rows. This is our flight attendant, I don’t remember her name now, but she gave us all of the extra perks that first class gets. She leaned in and whispered to me how sweet she thought it was that I held Liberty’s hand when we took off. She could see how nervous Liberty was. This was taken after we landed.
Transportation in the Airport
I don’t remember why we got this special service, but we enjoyed not having to walk through the airport in San Diego.
Shuttle to the Rental Car
Kids are excited. Liberty and I are glad we could do this for them. Love these guys!
Family Usie
Exploring Pacific Beach for the first time. We just arrived and decided to see Pacific Beach first.
Cool Kid!
I don’t remember what Ari and Liberty were looking at when we took this. I like the octopus on the wall behind us.
Enjoying the sun together
A quick Usie with Liberty in Pacific Beach. The four of us were just walking around looking at all of the cool shops. It was a bit like cross betweenBroadway and the Haight, but on the beach.
Together at Pacific Beach
We came down here to see what Pacific Beach was like. I sell a few t-shirts from businesses here. Always seemed like a cool place to visit. A very eclectic feel to the area.
Surfers at Pacific Beach
The water was full of surfers this day, as I am sure it is most days. IN hindsight, we should have walked that pier in the distance.
Breakfast Day 2
Ari discovered Pecan Waffles here at “Perry’s Cafe The Breakfast House”. They became her favorite after this day.
Off to Visit Sea World
Here we are on our way into Sea World. I have so many photos of these two doing just this. Walking in front of us, side by side, and happy. Liberty loved these shots.
Cleaning Fish
These little guys eat the dead skin off our hands. I held Lorenzo’s hand because he wasn’t sure about this. The sensation felt like a light tickle with every nibble. Pretty cool.
Liberty Pets a Shark
Obviously these sharks were not going to bite. She had never touched a shark before, and was surprised at the texture of their skin. Scaleless and smooth. Unless you rubbed them backwards.
My Family Enjoying the Petting Ponds
We touched all sorts of creatures. From Sharks and Skates, to Horseshoe Crabs, and many things in between.
Lorenzo Touching Hie First Shark
It didn’t take long for Lorenzo to get a little more comfortable and start petting these on his own.
Liberty Pondering the Dolphins
We stayed here for a while. She found them soothing to watch. Such marvelous creatures.
Sea Turtle in the Sand
This was an interactive sculpture that was in the sand to play with. Look ho big it is compared to Lorenzo.
